About the Opportunity
The School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences at the University of Reading is seeking to appoint Lecturers in Psychology (Teaching & Research) to join a collaborative, research-active, and student-focused academic community.
This is a permanent role available on either a full-time or part-time basis, offering flexibility alongside a strong emphasis on academic excellence. You will contribute to high-quality teaching and supervision across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, while also developing a vibrant and sustainable research profile.
The School has demonstrated a strong upward research trajectory, climbing 10 places in the most recent Research Excellence Framework (REF), and is committed to supporting staff in producing research with academic, societal, and policy impact.

Teaching & Research Focus
We welcome applications from psychologists whose teaching and research expertise aligns with, or complements, our existing strengths, including (but not limited to):
- Health Psychology
- Developmental Psychopathology
- Environmental Sustainability and Behaviour
- Forensic and Criminal Psychology
We particularly encourage applications from candidates with interdisciplinary research agendas, including those using advanced methodologies such as TMS and MRI, supported by the University’s Centre for Integrative Neuroscience and Neurodynamics (CINN), or those engaging with applied clinical research through facilities such as the Anxiety and Depression in Young People (AnDY) Research Clinic.

Key Responsibilities
As a Lecturer in Psychology, you will:
- Deliver engaging, inclusive teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Supervise student research projects and dissertations
- Develop and lead an independent research programme with clear publication goals
- Seek and secure external research funding over time
- Contribute to the academic life, governance, and collegial culture of the School
- UK Research and Innovation (UKRI)
Essential Criteria
You will bring:
- A PhD in Psychology or a closely related discipline
- Specialist expertise in one or more relevant areas of psychology
- A record of high-quality publications appropriate to career stage
- Clear potential to attract external research funding
- Experience of high-quality teaching and/or supervision in higher education
- A strong commitment to student experience, academic integrity, and professional conduct
