About Us
The UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology (IoN) is a world-renowned centre for neuroscience and neurology education and research. It hosts the intercalated BSc (iBSc) in Clinical Neurology and Brain Sciences, as well as an Elective Programme for final-year medical students from the UK, Europe, and internationally.
Our iBSc programme is uniquely embedded within the UK’s largest dedicated neurological and neurosurgical hospital – the National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery – and is designed to address the national shortage of doctors entering neurology.
The Education Team forms a vital part of Ion’s central professional services, led by the Institute Manager, and supports the planning and delivery of these academic programmes.
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic Lecturer (Teaching) to support the delivery, development, and management of the iBSc in Clinical Neurology and Brain Sciences.
You will work closely with the Programme Director and administrative team to:
Design and deliver lectures, tutorials, and other learning resources
Support and supervise students through one-to-one and group engagement
Lead on student engagement and tutee support
Assist with assessment, marking, and feedback
Contribute to the admissions and interview processes
Provide pastoral care to students as needed
This post is part-time (0.30 FTE, approximately 10.95 hours/week) and is eligible for hybrid working, with an expected on-site presence of 20%–80%, depending on role requirements.

About You
To be successful in this role, you should have:
A recognized medical degree and current GMC registration
Experience in teaching and learning support, including delivering lectures/tutorials, supervising students, and assessing academic work
The ability to design and deliver engaging and effective teaching content
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Right to Work Requirements
This role does not meet the eligibility criteria for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship, so applicants must have an existing right to work in the UK.
