About Us

The UCL Energy Institute is a world-class center for teaching and research at the intersection of environment, energy, and the built environment. As part of the Bartlett School, we deliver internationally recognized postgraduate programmes that equip students to address the global energy and climate challenges of today and tomorrow.

We are now seeking a Lecturer (Teaching) to support two of our flagship MSc programmes:

Smart Energy and the Built Environment (SEBE)

Energy Systems and Data Analytics (ESDA)

The Role

This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop academic teaching and leadership experience within a collaborative environment.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading teaching on:

Data Analytics in the Smart Built Environment (SEBE – optional module)

Energy Data Analytics in the Built Environment (ESDA – core module)

Preparing teaching materials and Moodle sites, delivering lectures, setting and marking coursework, and providing student support

Acting as Deputy Course Director for SEBE, including:

Supporting programme leadership and administration

Contributing to student recruitment and induction week delivery

Coordinating with module leads and preparing exam board materials

Supervising MSc dissertations and delivering additional lectures as required

This post is available from 1 November 2025 and funded for 9 months in the first instance, with potential for extension subject to funding. Job share applications are welcomed.

About You

We are looking for candidates with:

A PhD in a quantitative field relevant to energy demand and the built environment (or equivalent experience)

Research or teaching experience in statistical methods

A proven track record of teaching in higher education

Strong organizational and communication skills
