Role Overview

The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) invites applications for two Lecturer positions within the Postgraduate Communication Design program in the School of Design. These are fixed-term teaching roles for the 2025/26 academic session.

As a Lecturer, you will support the delivery and development of the postgraduate Communication Design programmers, contribute to curriculum planning, undertake teaching and assessment, and provide academic support to students. You will also assist the Program Leader in the day-to-day management of the programmer and deputize when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and assessment in Graphic Design and Illustration at postgraduate level

  • Contribute to the design and continuous development of course content and curriculum

  • Engage in student support, tutorials, and feedback

  • Participate in program management and administrative duties

  • Support a studio-based learning environment and engage in collaborative teaching

  • Act as deputy to the Program Leader when needed

Essential Requirements:

  • A minimum of a degree in a relevant subject (ideally a Master’s qualification)

  • Substantial professional experience in Communication Design (including Graphic Design and Illustration)

  • Proven teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level in Higher Education

  • Strong expertise in typography, publication design, and contemporary design practices

  • A comprehensive understanding of both traditional and digital communication design methods

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience teaching both Graphic Design and Illustration

  • Additional expertise in areas such as film-making, photography, animation, or creative coding

  • A collaborative and inclusive approach to academic work

Important Notes:

  • These are primarily teaching positions; research activity will only be supported if the roles are extended or become permanent
