Role Summary
The Glasgow School of Art (GSA) is inviting applications for two Lecturer posts in Postgraduate Communication Design within the School of Design. These are primarily teaching-focused roles and will involve delivering high-quality learning experiences to postgraduate students.
As a Lecturer, you will contribute to teaching, curriculum development, assessment, and academic support. You’ll also support the Programme Leader in the day-to-day management of the postgraduate Communication Design programmes and may act as deputy when required.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver engaging, informed teaching across the postgraduate Communication Design programmes

Contribute to course design, development, and evaluation

Provide academic and pastoral support to students

Assist in programme administration and team coordination

Support the Programme Leader and deputise as needed
Essential Skills & Experience:
-
A degree in a relevant subject (Master’s level preferred)

Significant professional experience in Graphic Design and/or Illustration
-
Previous experience teaching in higher education, ideally at postgraduate level

Strong knowledge of typography, publication design, and current practices in Communication Design

Familiarity with both traditional and digital tools and techniques used in the field

Up-to-date knowledge of debates, trends, and developments in Graphic Design and Illustration
Desirable Additional Skills (Not Essential):

Experience in filmmaking, photography, animation, or creative coding

Ability to teach across multiple areas of communication and visual practice
