About the Role
We are seeking a Lecturer in Digital Humanities to join our team on a 0.5 FTE basis for a fixed term of three years, starting in September 2025.
The successful candidate will teach technical skills within the MA/MSc Digital Humanities programmes. These programmes attract students from diverse cultural and academic backgrounds, many of whom have limited prior experience in programming or technical methods.
We are especially interested in candidates who can confidently teach introductory programming, interdisciplinary research methods, and data visualisation to non-technical students. Current teaching tools include JavaScript (for introductory programming), R (for data visualisation), and Python (used more broadly across the department).
Key responsibilities will include:
Teaching technical modules in Digital Humanities at the postgraduate level
Supervising Master’s dissertations
Supporting delivery of team-taught modules (e.g. Research Methods for Digital Humanities)
Contributing to academic administration and curriculum development
Potentially supporting teaching on the BSc Information in Society programme at UCL East
About You
Essential Requirements:
Expertise in Digital Humanities with a focus on technical skills
Experience teaching programming or technical subjects to students from non-technical backgrounds
Familiarity with one or more of the following: JavaScript, R, Python
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary academic team
Strong communication and organisational skills
A PhD or equivalent professional experience in Digital Humanities or a related discipline
