About the role
Aston University’s Department of Civil Engineering is seeking a motivated and adaptable academic with strong team-working skills to support the delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The primary teaching focus will be on construction management and quantity surveying, with potential contributions to other areas of civil engineering as required.
The successful candidate will:
Deliver engaging and inclusive teaching, with an emphasis on student engagement, project-based learning, and employability.
Contribute to curriculum development, innovative course delivery, and assessment methods.
Develop a strong research profile aligned with the department’s strengths, particularly within Sustainable Infrastructure Engineering and Management.
Collaborate with the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences and its three research institutes:
Aston Institute of Photonic Technologies
Energy and Bioproducts Research Institute
Aston Digital Futures Institute (ADFI)
Essential requirements:
A PhD in civil engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
Teaching experience in civil engineering and/or construction-related areas.
Excellent communication, organizational, and team-working skills.
A genuine commitment to inclusive and inspiring teaching.
Desirable:
Industrial experience.
A relevant professional qualification (or working towards one).
