About the Role
The School of Art, part of the new Faculty of Humanities, is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (Grade 7) in Art History (Teaching & Scholarship) on a six-month fixed-term contract from January to June 2026.
The role will focus on delivering undergraduate Art History modules (from the Renaissance to the contemporary) and contributing to student recruitment, teaching excellence, and the University’s Strategic Plan. Art History is offered both as a single and joint honours degree and as part of our Fine Art programmes.

Key Responsibilities
Teaching & Learning
Manage and deliver undergraduate Art History modules.
Prepare, teach, and assess modules from the Renaissance to contemporary art.
Review and update lecture, seminar, and workshop materials.
Set assignments in line with University and departmental standards.
Provide personal tutoring support, including monitoring student progress.
Liaise with External Examiners on curriculum, teaching, and assessment matters.
Other Duties
Contribute to student recruitment (Open Days, Visit Days).
Respond proactively to student feedback.
Represent the School of Art at Faculty level when required.
Explore opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration.
Undertake health and safety responsibilities as appropriate.
Follow University ethical guidelines and financial procedures.
Engage in mandatory training and professional development.
Carry out other reasonable duties as required by the Head of School.
About You
Essential
PhD in Art History.
Experience teaching Art History in higher education.
Expertise in core undergraduate modules.
Ability to communicate complex knowledge clearly.
Commitment to learning Welsh to at least Level A1 (basic).
Desirable
Teaching qualification.
Understanding of authentic assessments and employability-focused curriculum.
Knowledge of Art History’s application in the museum/gallery sector.
Flexibility and adaptability to change.
Welsh language skills at Level B2 (intermediate/advanced).
