The Department of Information Studies (DIS) is a center of excellence for research and teaching in librarianship, publishing, archives, digital humanities, and information science. We offer leading postgraduate qualifications for information professions, contribute to the BSc Information Management for Business, and recently launched the BSc Information in Society at UCL East. With a strong reputation for research and professional engagement, we are a hub for advancing information-related disciplines.
We are now seeking an innovative and committed Lecturer or Associate Professor in Publishing to join our team in January 2026. The potholder will contribute to our MA in Publishing through teaching, curriculum development, and research or practice-based scholarship, bringing fresh perspectives and professional insights into publishing practice.
About the Role
The successful candidate will:
Deliver high-quality teaching on postgraduate publishing modules (core and optional).
Develop and update curriculum content to reflect contemporary publishing practice.
Conduct research or practice-based projects in publishing studies.
Supervise student dissertations and projects.
Contribute to the administration and wider academic life of the Department.
The appointment will be made at either:
Lecturer (Grade 8: £54,931–£62,903) or
Associate Professor (Grade 9: £68,284–£74,166)
The level of appointment will depend on experience, research profile, and track record. Associate Professor candidates must demonstrate sustained excellence in teaching, research, and leadership.
