Job Description

About the Role

How We Work:

As a development team, we collaborate closely, pairing programming, whiteboarding and architecting as a group, and peer reviewing every line of code. We enjoy fun at work and are passionate about technology. We work in an agile manner, utilising the Scrum framework to provide value to our customers.

We have a flat structure in Mayden. Our team members collaborate to share the responsibilities that supervisors would typically have. Nobody instructs you how to do your work; we’re all here to help each other, not get in the way.

The development team collaborates with the product owner team to establish tasks for sprints. We collaborate with our account managers to provide the greatest possible experience for our customers, and we work with our operations team to ensure that our apps are stable and working smoothly.

Skills and Experience:

Our current technology stack comprises, but is not limited to, PHP, Slim Framework, JavaScript, React, and MySQL. We don’t require specialised familiarity with them, just business experience with other modern programming languages.

You should be able to demonstrate proficiency with MVC frameworks and/or current JavaScript frameworks.

Here are some other subjects that are essential to us and our clients; you don’t need to be an expert in all of them, just eager to learn:

Best practices and standards for accessibility in front-end development

  • Test frameworks
  • Software design best practices
  • Source control, particularly Git

The successful candidates will:

  • be passionate about the work we perform and the technology we employ.
  • Enjoy working closely with both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • be familiar with pair programming and code that is peer evaluated.
  • adopt a constructive and proactive attitude to problem solving, both with their team and the overall firm.
  • Be eager to learn and contribute to the development of others.
  • be comfortable working on difficulties with a team.

Benefits:

We provide a terrific working atmosphere and an excellent package of benefits, including:

  • monthly developer lunches (we will provide the pizza)
  • Quarterly hack days.
  • Personal Training Budget for Professional Development
  • Free on-site gym
  • Company pension
  • 25 days of yearly leave plus bank holidays (with the option to buy or sell annual leave once probation is finished)
  • Private Health Insurance
  • Life assurance

The role is for a full-time team member that works 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday.

Collaboration is one of our four company values, and we work best together. We feel that working face-to-face has substantial benefits. At the same time, some tasks can be completed just as successfully alone and away from the office. We have so developed a flexible ‘place of work’ policy that requires everyone to be where the work of the day is best performed and to spend enough time in the office with others to preserve relationships and communication.

This means there are no set days or amount of days when you must be in the office or may work from home. In any given week, you may need to work from the office every day or not at all! Everything is dependent on the task at hand, and you must be adaptable. Many people find that this strategy requires them to work in the office three or more days each week, but this varies depending on their role and the work they need to perform.

Our Place of Work Policy is accessible upon request.
