The University of Northampton is seeking an inspiring Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Environmental Science to join our dedicated and collaborative team. As part of the Environmental Science and Geography department, you will contribute to the delivery of our Environmental Science and Biological Sciences degrees, with a particular focus on conservation biology, field ecology, and habitat management.
The successful candidate will have expertise in conservation biology and field ecology and will be involved in teaching specialist modules, supporting dissertation supervision, and contributing to broader environmental science modules. You will also help teach undergraduate statistical analysis using RStudio, a key component of our second-year research methods module.
In addition to teaching, you will play an important role in the research output of the department and collaborate with colleagues within the faculty and the broader university. We support academic growth through our research centres, mentorship programs, and a scholarly leave allowance of 25 days.

About You
The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, including a BA/BSc (Hons) or equivalent in Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related discipline. You should have experience in delivering high-quality teaching and assessment materials, particularly in conservation biology and field ecology.
Essential Requirements:
PhD (or near completion) in a relevant discipline
Experience of using RStudio for statistical analysis
Experience teaching in higher education, including module leadership
Familiarity with habitat management and field-based teaching
Professional recognition (or willingness to work towards it) such as Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy (HEA)
A track record in digital learning technologies
ICT literacy
Desirable:
A Master’s degree in a relevant field
Additional professional qualifications
Experience leading academic programmes
You should also be able to work collegiately, demonstrate organisational and leadership skills, and have a passion for producing research publications, successful grant applications, and/or generating commercial income. Experience in working with external partners to enhance employability and community engagement would be a plus.

Essential:
Degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant subject
Doctorate in a relevant subject, completed or within 12 months of completion
Professional recognition as an HEA Fellow or willingness to obtain within an agreed timeframe
Desirable:
Master’s degree in a relevant subject
