JOB SUMMARY

Ward F3 has a wonderful opportunity for a dedicated paediatric Sister/Charge Nurse who is passionate about paediatric nursing. This is a one-year fixed-term/secondment employment with 32 hours per week on F3.

F3 is mostly a day of surgery ward, but it also has a short-stay admission unit and an infusion section.

We are searching for someone with strong organisational and clinical abilities and a desire to deliver high-quality care to the people we serve. You will be required to collaborate with the existing team to ensure a great experience for patients and family members while also contributing to the development of the service we offer. As a band 6, you will be expected to lead a team of employees and conduct development evaluations, 1:1 meetings, and complete sickness reports. You will also be accountable for improving the service and fostering a great work environment for all F3 employees.

You will need to understand how F3 works, what patient groups we see, and be able to collaborate with members of the MDT to ensure efficient communication across theatres, recovery, and other areas.

Main responsibilities of the job

The position holder will be accountable for competently delivering safe and effective care to children in need of in-patient hospitalisation and day care facilities without supervision. Assess care requirements, develop, execute, and evaluate care programmes. Participate in the supervision, training, mentoring, and appraisal of pre and post-registration personnel. Regularly coordinate the management of care provided by nursing and non-nursing support workers, and take over the ward in the absence of the ward manager. Showcase leadership ability.
