At Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, we are seeking a highly driven and enthusiastic individual to join our team.
In order to deliver an effective and thorough pharmacy service, a pharmacist assistant will do a variety of tasks encompassing the dispensary and distribution sections of the pharmacy department.
An NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services (or similar) is a prerequisite.
Every employee takes part in the department’s weekend and bank holiday work schedule.
They play a vital role in the pharmacy team both on the ward and in our state-of-the-art computerised dispensary. This position entails stock distribution, medication administration, items in and stock control, both inside the Pharmacy Department and to the Trust’s wards and departments as needed.
The supply of medications is at the core of the complex function of the pharmacy assistant.
Distribution includes acquiring inventory, utilising barcode technology, restocking ward supplies, preparing ward boxes, and refilling the automatic dispensing robot.
Dispensary: dispense prescription drugs and assist the lead technician and dispensary manager with day-to-day operations.
Serving a population of 286,700, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated trust that is the exclusive supplier of NHS acute care in the area. It offers a variety of community services in addition to inpatient and outpatient treatments at the Manor Hospital. All of the district general hospital’s services are provided under one roof at Walsall Manor. The £170 million building was finished in 2010, and the Trust now has state-of-the-art facilities for its Integrated Assessment Unit, Neonatal Unit, Critical Care Unit, and Obstetric Theatre thanks to ongoing upgrades to existing departments. Additionally, construction is almost complete on a multi-million dollar new urgent and emergency care centre that will house an Acute Medical Unit, Paediatric Assessment Unit, and new Emergency Department (including a Children’s Emergency Department). This is expected to be finished this year.

The role of the dispensary and the stores/distribution roles will alternate. The chosen candidate will be required to address every facet of the department, including:
Work at pharmacies taking orders, processing them, and addressing customer concerns. To support the delivery of a ward top-up service, make visits to different clinical areas and wards within the Trust. to guarantee precise medication inventory management. Label and dispense medications for patients in an accurate and efficient manner. This includes working in our satellite pharmacies and making ad hoc drug deliveries to and from the wards. While keeping the area neat and orderly, you will be utilising the Ascribe computer system and the pharmacy robot. To help provide the hospital with an effective and efficient pharmacy service, you will need to collaborate closely with other members of the pharmacy team.
