Job Summary
This is a fantastic chance to join the practice development team and support our student midwives at the Rosie Maternity Unit.
You must have the necessary knowledge and skills to support, educate, and develop clinical professionals, supervisors, assessors, and students in accordance with the standards for student supervision and assessment (SSSA) recommendations.
You will foster the growth of a learning culture in which both pre-registration education and lifetime learning are viewed as essential to clinical practice. Supporting students’ transition to preceptorship band 5 midwives will be a key focus.
There are several possibilities to collaborate and create partnerships with our partner colleges through student interviews, skills days, and student forums.
In addition, you will be supported in providing training such as obstetric emergencies, which students are urged to attend, as well as assessor update training sessions. It is critical that you maintain visibility among clinical assessors in order to provide support for student assessments.
Main responsibilities of the job
To serve as the identified link in practice for all pre-registration learners and to foster a culture of learning support throughout midwifery.
To contribute to effective partnership functioning between practice placement areas and Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs), in consultation with the Head of Education.
To be current with SSSA requirements and comprehend the evaluation process for learners.
To aid supervisors, assessors, practice educators, and departmental managers in integrating theory and practice within the clinical setting.
To work clinically with students and staff to meet their specific learning needs.
Participate in the unit and Trust’s necessary teaching programmes.
