JOB SUMMARY

 

The Clinical studies department of the Academic Department of Oncology and Haematology at the Queens Centre, Castle Hill Hospital is searching for a Research Nurse to join the team and assist an expanding portfolio of Oncology/Haematology clinical studies.

Experience working in a specialisation with cancer-related procedures/care or clinical research, as well as a mature attitude, is required.

The postholder will be expected to collaborate with all members of the multidisciplinary team to recruit, screen, and care for patients enrolled in Oncology/Haematology clinical trials. The position demands outstanding communication skills, an awareness of scientific processes, the capacity to prioritise workload, and the ability to operate independently and flexibly.

The successful applicant must be motivated and willing to work aggressively to recruit patients in accordance with NIHR targets.

The successful candidate will join a well-established team of Research Nurses and Clinical Trial Assistants. External research partners, such as pharmaceutical companies, research networks, and Clinical Trial Units, will also need to be consulted.

Although the post holder’s primary focus would be on academic oncology and haematology, it is expected that the post holder will be adaptable and responsive to the organization’s research needs, and may thus be required to work in other research areas or as part of the ‘Generic Research Team’.

Part-time or full-time hours are negotiable. The work schedule will be flexible between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
