To be successful in this capacity, you must be a highly driven, energetic, caring professional with clinical leadership abilities who can work independently. The role entails directing a team to assess, plan, and administer evidence-based care for service consumers. You will serve as a role model and support the operation of shifts, as well as coordinate and delegate nursing activities to the nursing staff. While working on the ward, you will be expected to perform shifts seven days a week, including early, late, and night hours.

Show advanced practice, competence, and skills in ward-based patient and surgical care.

Be responsible for providing safe, high-quality patient-centered treatment.

Responsible for optimising resource utilisation, maintaining compliance with local protocols for infection control, manual handling, health and safety, patient advocacy, and addressing quality issues related to service delivery.

Act as a resource in the fields of orthopaedics and surgical assessment to help nursing staff and other allied health care workers acquire clinical skills.

To assist with audits, rotas, data, appraisals, staff sickness, and attendance at meetings.

To provide hospital coverage and Clinical Site Manager duties.

In the absence of the Unit Manager, act as their representative.

Responsible for assessing, developing, implementing, and evaluating care to ensure that individual requirements are satisfied.

Anticipate patient requirements and design an action plan to provide a safe and effective approach.

Provide professional technical knowledge and abilities for safely and accurately assessing patients prior to anaesthesia.

To coordinate, aid, and advise others in the surgical setting.

Advanced understanding of human anatomy and physiology in relation to orthopaedic care.

Maintain specialist knowledge and clinical abilities in orthopaedics and surgery. To be able to apply theoretical knowledge in a range of settings to select the appropriate patient treatment.

Maintain strong interpersonal skills and coping mechanisms to handle potential exposure to upsetting events.

Patient care is frequently provided, necessitating the utilisation of physical effort to help patients in moving around. Attending annual obligatory training ensures safe usage of manual handling equipment.

Be able to show dexterity in abilities throughout clinical practice.

Handling waste bodily fluids and ensuring proper disposal.

Participates in yearly appraisals and required training to ensure compliance with Trust policies and current legislation.

Attends relevant in-house training sessions related to personal clinical practice to improve knowledge and skills. Maintaining proficiency in all parts of the role and using reflection to improve practice.
