JOB SUMMARY

We are currently searching for an enthusiastic Children’s trained nurse or Nurse Associate with previous experience nursing children to join our team.

The Children’s Community Nursing Service is a modest but well-established service that cares for children and young people with specified nursing or long-term health needs, empowering families to manage their child at home and in a range of locations throughout Solihull.

You will be a member of a multi-professional team and will need great communication skills. We will provide a full induction and competency training; prior competency evidence in IV therapy, venipuncture/blood sample, enteral feeding device care, tracheostomy care, and medical devices would be deemed valuable.

The team is open from 09.00 -18.30 hours Monday through Friday and Saturday, and 09.00 – 13.00 hours on bank holidays. This position requires 37.5 hours per week, spread across five days.

Daily access to your own vehicle is required for managing community visits.

Main responsibilities, tasks, and abilities required

You will be responsible for managing a designated caseload of children under the supervision of a senior nurse, as well as managing your own time and taking initiative to offer evidence-based, high-quality care.

You will evaluate and plan for the care requirements of children/young people and their families at home, school, and in other community settings. Your assessment and treatments will evaluate the immediate and long-term physical, psychological, and social effects of diagnosis and therapy, as well as their impact on a child’s or young person’s development.

You will have extensive knowledge and expertise working within safeguarding processes, and you will be expected to attend/support the team’s attendance at multidisciplinary team meetings and safeguarding meetings. As a part of this team, you will be provided with ongoing clinical supervision, appraisal, and pertinent team meetings.

A flexible working style and a passion for long-term, complex, palliative, and end-of-life care are required.

The work will require educating and sharing knowledge with parents, carers, students, and other professionals, thus previous teaching experience would be beneficial.

If you have relevant experience or want to broaden your knowledge, would want to join a small, friendly, and proactive team, and are dedicated to improving outcomes for children and their families, please apply.
