Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
There is a vacancy at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking for a full-time patient experience and complaints manager with the Women’s Health Care Group (37.5 hours per week).
We require someone who is energetic, driven, and capable of organising and coordinating a wide range of duties within tight time constraints, working under pressure, taking initiative, and playing a key part in complaint handling and resolution.
This position will assist with the administration of a complaints portfolio, allowing for the identification of problems and their effective resolution in a compassionate and efficient manner. Importantly, this allows our Trust to identify what we can alter to improve our services for our patients. You will collaborate closely with your colleagues in the PALS team as well as those around the Trust.
You must be able to communicate with complainants in a professional, calm, and friendly manner, and assist in obtaining an early settlement wherever possible. To respond to complaints in a clear, honest, and empathic manner, you must also have strong letter writing skills.
You must enjoy dealing with people and want to make a difference in the lives of our patients, their caregivers/friends/families, and your colleagues, as well as contribute positively to our team and service. If you are a hard-working, committed, and confident individual with all of the aforementioned skills and some experience working in a complaints environment, or if you are a licensed midwife wishing to work within the governance team, we would like to hear from you.
The post holder will follow all legislative and regulatory rules and ensure high-level administration to reach targets in accordance with the Trust’s Complaints and PALS policies. The position holder will maintain strong, transparent, and secure administrative systems that ensure information is kept efficiently and effectively while adhering to corporate and information governance.
As part of complaint management, the job holder will ensure that all complaint information have been completely understood and registered (which will have occurred throughout the triage phase), as well as the client’s objectives and preferences. You’ll need to establish rapport with the complainant and keep them informed throughout the complaint procedure. You will develop relationships with the care groups in order to challenge and encourage them in meeting the deadlines agreed upon with the complainant. You will collaborate with your care group colleagues to create clear and complete responses, aiming to get it right the first time. An important element of this work will be to establish any lessons and actions resulting from complaints, which may then be shared with the whole Trust.
