JOB SUMMARY

About the role

The Senior Space & Asset Manager will be in charge of ensuring the availability of appropriate teaching and student-facing spaces across all degree types, subject areas, and related support services. In the short term, this entails collaborating with key Estates stakeholders to design a planned improvement project, which the post holder will be responsible for co-ordinating and maintaining within a predetermined budget.

The post holder will report to the Head of Space & Asset Management and collaborate with colleagues from several Schools and Directorates to ensure that there are enough teaching spaces to satisfy expansion targets. They will also lead the development of new design standards for teaching spaces and serve as the subject matter expert on all initiatives that update or improve them.

A significant component of the work will be to model demand scenarios against existing and projected supply of teaching spaces, using timetabling and utilisation data to build novel solutions that enable efficient and effective space usage. The post holder will work with key academic stakeholders to ensure that these solutions meet pedagogical and support needs.

A large component of the job will entail obtaining, evaluating, and interpreting data to generate regular and ad hoc reports. This need necessitates the development of processes and a reporting architecture that will allow us to rapidly and simply submit data-driven suggestions for approval.

About You

You’ll have extensive experience managing student learning and study areas in an educational or training setting. You will grasp the fundamental components of an effective learning environment and will be able to apply your imagination to innovate and modify suboptimal places in order to achieve more effective and efficient space usage.

You will approach issue resolution using evidence and have a strong interest in data collection, analysis, and interpretation. The outcomes of your analytical work will be presented in a clear and convincing manner, especially when the intended audience is our senior stakeholders.

You will be skilled at managing procedures and persuading others. You will be a team player who can collaborate with stakeholders at all levels and from throughout the University.

With a degree, you will have extra leadership qualifications and extensive knowledge with technologies such as PowerBI, Tableau, and Crystal Reports.

Shortlisting and interviewing will continue beyond the closing date. Please apply for this opportunity as soon as possible as the advertisement will close once the appointment is made.
