JOB SUMMARY

 

We are seeking an eager and motivated candidate to join the University’s Museums and Collections Services (UMASCS). The Systems and Metadata Administrator will support and create the information systems, technologies, and metadata that manage and make available the University’s incredibly diverse collection of items, archives, and photographic pictures. This will encompass day-to-day operations, troubleshooting, system development, employee assistance, and training. The post holder will build and maintain relationships with system vendors, relevant customer user groups, and other University staff on system-related issues, as well as contribute to planning and policymaking.

UMASCS is part of the Innovation and Research Directorate and is located at St Andrew’s Hall, which houses the Museum of English Rural Life and the Special Collections Services on the University’s London Road campus.

You’ll have:

  • Higher education degree or similar.
  • Excellent information technology skills (experience with Windows operating systems and a desire to learn new ones)
  • Familiarity with using and managing collections management and discovery systems
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and fault-finding skills.
  • Good oral and writing communication skills, particularly the ability to interpret and communicate technical knowledge to colleagues in an intelligible fashion.
  • Ability to work on personal initiative and meet agreed-upon timeframes.
