Job Title: Stores Technician.

Salary range: B3 £24,294 – £25,979.

Hours: 37.

Contract: Permanent.

Location: The Arium, Thorner Lane, Leeds, LS14 3FB.

The Workshop and Engineering division has recently undergone considerable reorganisation, and we are now looking to fill a number of key roles throughout the team to ensure long-term success.

About You

As a Stores Technician, you will bring into the role:

About the Role

Our Transport and Engineering section is looking for an experienced Stores Technician to join a team situated in The Arium, but who may be required to work anywhere within the city boundary.

The ideal candidate will be a highly adaptable, self-motivated individual with outstanding communication skills and a dedication to providing the best quality of service. You must have demonstrated the ability to operate under tight deadlines, prioritise your work, and keep correct records.

You will be expected to assist the Stores Supervisor in providing a full store and purchasing service for the Workshop and Engineering sections. This will entail acquiring, issuing, and receiving agricultural, horticultural, arboricultural, and speciality plant, machinery, and vehicle parts, tools, and equipment as needed by workshop operational personnel, all while according to procurement standards.

To initiate and complete all essential documentation and records related to the store’s operations, including stock maintenance, creating store orders, receiving products, and paying invoices as needed.

Job Description.

Job Purpose: Assist the Stores Supervisor in providing a comprehensive store and purchasing service for Workshop and Engineering. This includes acquiring, stocking, issuing, and securing plant and equipment parts and materials to meet workshop demands while adhering to best practices, standing orders, and financial regulations. Working closely with and supporting other aspects of the service.

Responsibilities:

  • To perform daily stock administration and mail duties as needed.
  • To help the Stores Supervisor by monitoring and maintaining accurate information on store contents for stock reordering utilising the store’s management systems.
  • To support workshop staff in locating and acquiring plant and equipment spare parts in accordance with approved supplier lists, while also investigating all available routes for component purchase.
  • Carry out stock and computer record checks to ensure that stock levels are kept to a minimum.
  • Assist the Stores Supervisor with store in and out processes, including issuing and receiving specialist tools and equipment as needed by technicians.
  • To initiate and complete all necessary documentation and records related to the store’s functioning, including making store orders, receiving goods, and paying invoices as needed.
  • Use the financial management system to process the store invoices.
  • To assist with the setup and day-to-day operation of stock administration systems.
  • To accurately enter data into all record systems, both manual and electronic, and to provide periodical performance and financial reports.
  • To assist in the setup of scanning and computerised filing systems, as well as to be responsible for system administration and maintenance.
  • Explain all connected subjects and/or provide basic training to other workers, utilising well-developed communication skills to ensure clarity and understanding.
  • Follow the council’s retail security measures.
  • Collect crucial parts as needed.
  • Follow all necessary operational procedures and work instructions as directed.
  • Compile COSHH evaluations for stock goods that require them, and conduct audits as needed.
  • Flexible and flexible to change, assisting other services as needed, according with grade.
  • Participate in appraisal, training, and development activities as needed to maintain current knowledge and skills.
  • Improve your own practice by observing, evaluating, discussing with colleagues, and participating in development programmes.

Qualifications

Experience is Required.

  • Experience in providing administrative support
  • Experience with Word and Excel, such as creating process letters and data spreadsheets/reports.
