About the Role
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Housekeeper to join our team at Preston Private Care Home, where your contribution will directly impact the comfort, cleanliness, and overall wellbeing of our residents. You’ll work as part of a supportive team to maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness throughout the care home.
This role requires flexibility to cover holidays, and therefore visa sponsorship and student visas are not available. Applicants must have a minimum of 18 months remaining on their current visa to be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Cleaning Duties:
Empty and wipe bins
Vacuum all areas
Shake out cushions
Clean communal areas (dining rooms, lounges, bathrooms)
Sanitize taps, sinks, soap dispensers, and toothbrush holders
Spot clean floors
Mop bathroom and toilet floors
Weekly Cleaning Duties:
Polish mirrors and dust handrails/radiators
Clean behind and beneath movable furniture
Clean and disinfect waste bins
Dust and polish all surfaces
Wash flooring and shampoo carpets as required
Additional Duties:
Restock toiletries, towels, and soap as needed
Ensure all cleaning equipment is clean and well-maintained
Maintain cleanliness and organization of stock storage areas
Health & Safety Responsibilities
Comply with waste disposal procedures
Immediately report accidents, infections, or hazards to the Home Manager or senior staff
Follow fire safety and emergency procedures
Report any broken equipment, damaged furniture, or hazards
Communication & Teamwork
Work effectively as part of the housekeeping team
Attend staff meetings and participate in service user discussions when required
Accurately complete any relevant documentation or checklists
Training & Development
Attend mandatory training sessions (on or off site)
Maintain a high level of professional competence
Be open to additional learning opportunities and performance feedback
Person Specification
Essential:
Minimum of 12 months’ housekeeping or cleaning experience
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Team player with a proactive attitude
Right to work in the UK with at least 18 months remaining on current visa
Willingness to work flexibly to cover holiday absences
Clear DBS check and not listed on the PoVA register
Desirable:
Experience working in a care home or similar environment
