About the Role
We are excited to offer the opportunity to join Abbotsbury Ward, a GOLD accredited, multi-specialty ward at Dorset County Hospital. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality, patient-focused care across a range of clinical areas, including:

Gastroenterology

Surgical care

General medicine
As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will play an essential role in delivering compassionate care throughout the patient journey — from admission to discharge — including pre- and post-operative care. This is a fast-paced, dynamic environment where no two days are the same.
What You’ll Do
-
Support patients with daily personal care (e.g., washing, dressing, mobility, nutrition).

Work under the supervision of registered nurses and contribute to care planning.

Monitor and accurately document patient observations and care activities.
-
Assist in preparing patients for surgery and support their post-operative recovery.
-
Adapt to the changing needs of the ward, responding to high workloads with professionalism and flexibility.

Work collaboratively across different adult wards when required.
