About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Healthcare Science Assistant to join the Genetics Service at Ninewells Hospital. This role is ideal for individuals looking to begin a career in Healthcare Science within the NHS.

You will be part of a supportive and experienced Technical Team, working under the supervision of Senior Practitioners and a Team Leader. Your main duties will include:

• Working in a busy reception area

• Handling and logging patient samples, particularly for the CYP2C19 genotyping project

• Following administrative procedures in line with service standards

• Performing sample-handling tasks that contribute to diagnostic reporting

Attention to detail and the ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) accurately is essential, as the role involves handling sensitive patient samples used in genetic testing.

About the Department:

The Regional Genetics Service is a friendly, multidisciplinary team consisting of technical, scientific, and clinical staff. The service provides genetic diagnostics to patients and families in Tayside, North East Fife, and other areas in Scotland. The department is based in a modern and well-equipped facility at Ninewells Hospital.
