About the Role
Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking a Health and Wellbeing Coach to join our team in South Lakeland. This role focuses on supporting adults with complex needs to make meaningful, lasting changes to improve their physical and mental wellbeing.
As a Coach, you will work directly with individuals to help them identify goals, build confidence, and overcome barriers to positive change. You will use a non-directive, person-centered coaching approach, supporting people to take control of their own health and wellbeing.
You will collaborate closely with local NHS teams (especially community mental health services), council colleagues, and community organizations to connect people with local resources and support networks.
Key Responsibilities
Provide tailored one-on-one coaching for individuals with complex health and wellbeing needs
Support behavior change across areas like lifestyle, relationships, mental health, and home life
Help clients develop independence and resilience
Address barriers to health and reduce inequalities by identifying root causes
Work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and community services
Encourage clients to engage in local activities and build peer support networks
Promote long-term, sustainable changes that improve overall wellbeing
What We’re Looking For
A Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Health Coaching (or equivalent qualification)
Significant experience coaching individuals with multiple and complex needs
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and motivate others
Understanding of health inequalities and how to reduce them
Able to challenge unhelpful behaviors and promote personal responsibility
Experience working across health, social care, and community sectors
