About the role

We are seeking a Head Veterinary Surgeon to lead our dedicated team at Scunthorpe Vets for Pets. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role in a growing practice where your ideas will be valued, your development supported, and your expertise recognized.

The Role

This position is open to full-time or part-time hours, with Saturdays shared across the team. There are no on-call duties, no out-of-hours, and no Sundays, giving you an excellent work-life balance.

As Head Vet, you will:

Lead clinical and strategic development within the practice.

Mentor colleagues and support their professional growth.

Contribute to decision-making and setting high clinical standards.

Manage a varied caseload, with confidence in routine medical and surgical cases.

Work independently when required.

Bring ideas and enthusiasm to help drive the practice forward.

An interest in surgery would be beneficial but is not essential.

The Team

You’ll be leading a supportive and collaborative team consisting of:

1 Vet (currently completing an advanced surgery certificate)

3 Registered Veterinary Nurses (RVNs)

1 Student Veterinary Nurse (SVN)

1 Veterinary Care Assistant (VCA)

2 Client Care Advisors

1 Practice Manager

The team is passionate about patient and client care, and committed to working together to achieve the best outcomes.

Our purpose-built, air-conditioned practice is equipped to industry-leading standards with modern facilities. We are based in Pets at Home, Lakeside Retail Park, a busy and accessible location with excellent public transport links and a nearby train station.
