Job Description
About the Role
UCL is seeking a Head of Student Recruitment (East Asia) to lead strategic recruitment activity across a key portfolio of international markets, including East Asia, with particular depth in China.
This is a senior leadership role within the Student Recruitment and Admissions division. You will be responsible for shaping and delivering recruitment strategies that ensure UCL continues to attract outstanding students from across the region. Working closely with colleagues across Admissions, Global Engagement, Alumni Relations, and senior leadership, you will translate institutional priorities into effective, market-responsive recruitment plans.
You will directly manage two Liaison and Recruitment Managers, providing clear direction, coaching, and support to help them and their teams succeed. Acting as UCL’s subject-matter expert for East Asian markets, you will provide insight, analysis, and advice to colleagues across the university.
The role includes representing UCL at major international events, strengthening partnerships with schools and organisations, and contributing to the planning and delivery of overseas recruitment activity.
Key Responsibilities

- Lead the development and delivery of country and regional recruitment strategies for East Asia
- Analyse market trends, policy changes, and competitor activity to inform decision-making

- Represent UCL at international recruitment events, school visits, and partnership meetings
- Contribute to the leadership of the wider Student Recruitment and Admissions team
About You
You will bring substantial experience in international student recruitment or marketing, ideally within a large and complex higher education environment. You are a confident leader who motivates teams, sets clear priorities, and delivers results. You are comfortable working across organizational boundaries and influencing a wide range of stakeholders. Your communication skills allow you to present complex ideas clearly and build trusted relationships internally and externally.
You share UCL’s commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and you approach your work with curiosity, integrity, and a continuous improvement mindset. Experience working with recruitment agents, overseas partners, and managing budgets is desirable. Mandarin language skills would be an advantage but are not essential.
