About the Role

This is an excellent opportunity to join the leadership and management team of the FoodBioSystems Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP) — a large, cross-university PhD training programme funded by the BBSRC and led by the University of Reading.

The Food Biosystems DTP is a vibrant, collaborative community supporting over 100 doctoral researchers across seven UK universities, focused on advancing sustainable food systems, nutrition, and biotechnology research.

As a key member of the DTP Management Team, you will play a vital role in administrative coordination, financial oversight, and student engagement. Based in the Department of Food and Nutritional Sciences, you will lead on day-to-day financial management, student monitoring, and contribute to the planning and delivery of training programmes and stakeholder engagement events.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the day-to-day financial management of the Food Biosystems DTP, including budget monitoring and expenditure tracking.

Manage student records and monitoring processes, ensuring compliance with BBSRC and university requirements.

Support the planning and delivery of training courses, workshops, and student development activities.

Coordinate and manage stakeholder engagement events, taking the lead on specific initiatives.

Work closely with academic and professional services colleagues across partner institutions.

Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of DTP systems and processes.

About You

You will have:

Strong organizational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Proven financial management and numeracy skills, ideally with experience in higher education or research funding.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with the confidence to work collaboratively across teams and institutions.

A proactive, detail-oriented approach, capable of working independently and taking initiative.

Experience in event planning, training coordination, or stakeholder engagement is desirable.
