Job Description

Join Our Team as a Fetal Monitoring Midwife at East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust

Thank you for considering East Kent Hospitals University Foundation Trust as your next employer. Located in an area with excellent transport links to London and the continent, we also offer the benefit of beautiful countryside and easy access to Kent’s stunning beaches and charming towns.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Midwife with strong clinical leadership and facilitation skills to take the lead in enhancing the standard of risk assessment and fetal monitoring. This role will focus on aligning with element 4 of the Saving Babies’ Lives 2 Care Bundle and safety action 8 of CNST.

You will be joining a well-established team that is committed to promoting women-centred, personalised care in line with the principles of Better Births.

If you have the necessary expertise and are excited to join our team during this pivotal time, we would love to hear from you.

About the Role: As the Fetal Monitoring Midwife, you will be a visible advocate for safe and effective fetal heart rate interpretation. This will involve demonstrating expert clinical knowledge and providing education and training for maternity staff. Your role will also include supporting our approach to physiological fetal monitoring, including both intelligent intermittent auscultation and continuous electronic fetal monitoring.

You will work closely with the Maternity Faculty for Multiprofessional Education, and receive mentorship from a consultant obstetrician and midwife with advanced skills in fetal monitoring. Together with the Labour Suite Lead Midwives and Consultants, you will ensure that the care we provide to mothers and babies is of the highest standard, prioritizing both safety and effectiveness.

Why East Kent Hospitals? We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is ‘great healthcare from great people,’ and everything we do is guided by our values: ‘People feel cared for, safe, respected, and confident that we are making a difference.’

We have embraced a new approach to working called ‘We Care’, which empowers frontline staff to lead improvements in patient care every day. We are looking for compassionate individuals to join us on this improvement journey, making a difference to the lives of patients, families, and carers.
