About the Role
UTC Reading is seeking an enthusiastic and well-organized Examinations Officer to manage all aspects of the school’s examinations process. This is a key administrative role ensuring that all internal and external examinations are conducted in line with awarding body regulations and school policies.
You will coordinate examination entries, timetables, and results; manage a team of invigilators; and liaise closely with staff, students, parents, and exam boards to ensure the smooth and secure delivery of examinations at both Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and Key Stage 5 (Post-16) levels.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the full administration of all public and internal examinations, ensuring compliance with awarding body requirements.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of examination policies, procedures, and annual changes issued by examination boards.
Manage all exam entries, amendments, withdrawals, and results processing.
Prepare and distribute exam timetables, seating plans, and candidate information.
Ensure the secure storage and handling of confidential examination materials.
Recruit, train, and manage a team of invigilators, providing annual updates on regulations and procedures.
Support the SENDCo with access arrangements and ensure appropriate exam accommodations are in place.
Oversee examination days, including resolving any issues such as irregularities, malpractice, or emergencies.
Manage post-exam processes, including appeals, re-marks, and special consideration requests.
Coordinate the release of results, prepare analysis reports for the Senior Leadership Team, and oversee the distribution of certificates.
Liaise with the Department for Education (DfE) and ensure that published results are accurate and compliant.
Support internal assessments and mock examinations in collaboration with Heads of Department.
About You
You will bring:
Excellent organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
The ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and meet strict deadlines.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in liaising with students, parents, staff, and external organisations.
Experience in exam administration within an educational setting (preferred) or similar administrative experience in a regulated environment.
Competence with Microsoft Office and data management systems.
