We are thrilled to offer a Band 5 Staff Nurse position within the Emergency Department at Heartlands Hospital. Person Specification:

Qualifications:
Essential:

Professional and clinical knowledge from degree/diploma-level training, leading to NMC registration (Adult, Child, Learning Disability, or Mental Health).

For newly qualified nurses: evidence of undergraduate education; for experienced nurses: postgraduate CPD.

Experience:
Essential:

Recent experience in an acute secondary healthcare setting (including undergraduate placements within the last 12 months).

Willingness to meet NMC standards for student supervision and assessment.

Clear understanding of the NMC Code of Conduct and registered nurse proficiencies, applied to training or practice.

Skills in accountability, health promotion, needs assessment, care planning, evaluation, leadership, team collaboration, care coordination, safety, and quality improvement.

Awareness of clinical issues, NHS policies, safeguarding, mental capacity, and health and safety.
Desirable:

Experience in an acute NHS setting as a student or registered nurse.

Additional Criteria:
Essential:

Strong communication and relationship skills (listening, writing, reading, speaking in English) with accurate record-keeping.

Proficient IT skills for electronic documentation.

Competence in clinical skills and willingness to expand practice as needed.

Ability to manage patient groups or shifts, stepping up in the absence of senior staff.

Professional demeanor, genuine enthusiasm for the role, and a caring, approachable attitude.

Flexibility to work varied shifts (nights, weekends, unsocial hours) and across UHB sites as required.

Understanding of potential redeployment to different settings for a shift.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check:
This role requires a DBS submission under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 to check for prior convictions.
