About the Role
This is a great opportunity for a qualified Educational Mental Health Practitioner (EMHP) to join the Piece of Mind Team, part of the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Darlington.
You’ll be working at the frontline of early intervention, supporting children and young people within schools and colleges. The role focuses on promoting emotional wellbeing and providing timely support for those experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges.
 What You’ll Be Doing
 Direct Support to Children & Young People
- Deliver structured, evidence-based 1:1 mental health interventions
Carry out assessments and identify appropriate support needs
Manage and respond to risk, ensuring safety and wellbeing
Working Within Education Settings
- Support school staff in identifying and managing mental health concerns
Promote awareness of emotional wellbeing across school communities
Deliver group-based interventions, including parenting programmes
 Collaborative Working
- Work closely with children, families, teachers, and other professionals
Develop tailored care plans with clear goals and outcomes
Contribute to a whole-school approach to mental health support

 What You’ll Need
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree (BSc Hons or equivalent)
Completion of a Health Education England-approved EMHP Postgraduate Diploma
 Experience & Skills
- Experience delivering therapeutic interventions to children and young people
Ability to conduct mental health assessments and manage risk appropriately
Confidence delivering group programmes (e.g. parenting support)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively within school environments
 Desirable
- Additional training or CPD in child and adolescent mental health
Experience providing training to school staff

 Important Information
This role requires an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check
