About the Role
The University of Aberdeen’s School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition (SMMSN) is seeking a senior academic administrator to lead the strategic and operational delivery of education administration across the School. Based in the Polwarth Building, Forester hill Health Campus, this potholder will work closely with the Director of Education, Registrar, and Head of School, overseeing all administration for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including Medicine, Dentistry, BSc, and PGT programmes.
This is a senior leadership position within the School, responsible for managing a professional services team and ensuring the smooth running of all programmes, including the MBChB. The role also covers quality assurance, accreditation, curriculum development, and international partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the School’s education administration team.
Oversee the delivery and development of all UG and PG programmes.
Drive quality assurance and accreditation processes.
Support curriculum design and implementation.
Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, including the NHS and international institutions.
Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement within the School.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have:
A degree-level qualification.
Extensive experience in higher education administration, ideally within medical education.
Strong knowledge of the higher education sector, including NHS processes and national policy issues.
Proven leadership skills, including managing teams and complex systems.
Strategic thinking ability with experience contributing to operational and strategic planning.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
Strong IT and organizational skills, with attention to detail and process improvement experience.
Flexibility, adaptability, and professionalism in handling sensitive matters.
Salary & Conditions
Salary will be on the Grade 8 scale (£59,139 – £66,537), with placement according to qualifications and experience.
Appointment is subject to the University’s Pay Policy: Pay Policy 2024
