About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and committed mental health nurse to join our team as a Duty Coordinator at Roseberry Park Hospital. This senior position offers the opportunity to provide strong clinical leadership to inpatient teams while ensuring safe, compassionate, and effective care for service users and their families.
You will play a key part in coordinating daily operations, supporting staff with complex decision-making, managing changing priorities, and fostering a positive and supportive team environment. Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior clinical leadership and oversight across inpatient wards
- Coordinate workloads and offer practical clinical support to staff
- Deliver clinical and management supervision, and support the induction of new team members
- Build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Monitor service performance indicators and contribute to quality assurance initiatives
- Assist staff in managing challenging situations and support safe decision-making
- Promote evidence-based practice and continuous service improvement
About You
You are a registered mental health nurse with substantial experience in urgent or acute mental health care. You thrive in fast-paced environments, remain calm under pressure, and are confident in leading and supporting others.
Essential Qualifications
- Current NMC registration as RMN / RNLD (or RNC for CAMHS-specific roles)
- Willingness to complete a Post-Graduate Diploma within 2 years (if not already held)
- Ability to achieve recognised Practice Supervisor /
- Assessor or equivalent clinical educator status within 6 months
Desirable Qualifications
- Leadership or management qualification
- Additional post-graduate study in a relevant field
Essential Experience and Knowledge
- At least 2 years’ experience at Band 6 (or equivalent) or above in mental health, autism, or learning disability settings
- Sound understanding of key legislation (Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act)
- Proven skills in clinical risk assessment and management
- In-depth knowledge of safeguarding processes and their practical application
- Post-graduate level understanding of evidence-based practice in your specialist area
- Experience providing clinical supervision and supporting student placements
- Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and with service users and families
Desirable Experience
- Previous leadership or management responsibilities
- Familiarity with quality improvement systems
