About the Opportunity

Citygate Volkswagen & Škoda West London is looking for an Accredited Diagnostic Technician to join our high-performing technical team at Volkswagen’s European flagship dealership in Brentford.

This role is ideal for a technician who enjoys solving complex vehicle issues, staying at the forefront of automotive technology, and supporting the development of others. You’ll work in a cutting-edge environment with access to the latest diagnostic tools, manufacturer training, and a diverse range of vehicles — including electric and hybrid models.

You’ll also play an important mentoring role, sharing your expertise with apprentices and junior technicians while delivering an exceptional service experience for our customers.

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Accredited Diagnostic Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out manufacturer-approved servicing and repairs
  • Diagnosing complex mechanical, electrical, and software-related faults
  • Completing Electronic Visual Health Checks (eHVCs) and producing clear, customer-friendly reports
  • Working closely with Service Advisors and, where appropriate, speaking directly with customers
  • Ensuring all work meets manufacturer, legal, and safety standards
  • Staying up to date with evolving vehicle technologies through continuous training
  • Supporting process improvements and best-practice initiatives
  • Mentoring apprentices and less experienced technicians

What We’re Looking For

You’ll be a strong match for this role if you have:

Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (or equivalent)

  • Proven experience within a VAG brand environment (preferred)
  • VAG Diagnostic Technician Accreditation (essential for sponsorship)
  • Excellent fault-finding and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and time management
  • The ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical customers
  • A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for coaching others
