Job Summary

Communities Clinics Ltd is seeking an experienced Dermatology Clinician to join our growing NHS community dermatology service. This role involves providing high-quality care for patients referred by GPs, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and management of a wide range of skin conditions.

The successful candidate will deliver care in line with GMC requirements, national guidelines, and local policies, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centered services. Skilled Worker visa sponsorship is available for eligible applicants.

Main Duties of the Job

Clinical Triage & Assessment: Review dermatology referrals, carry out thorough assessments, and manage acute and chronic conditions.

Minor Surgical Procedures: Perform minor dermatological surgery (e.g., excision of low-risk basal cell carcinoma) in line with national standards.

Patient Care & Prescribing: Provide evidence-based treatments and manage prescriptions in line with local CCG formulary.

Professional Development: Maintain clinical competence through training, CPD, and adherence to GMC and RCGP standards.

Communication: Ensure clear, sensitive, and confidential communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Quality Assurance: Follow NSF and NICE guidelines, participate in audits, peer reviews, and shared learning to enhance service quality.

Job Description – Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a motivated Consultant Dermatologist / Specialist Clinician to help lead and expand our community dermatology services.

Shape and develop new clinical pathways and community contracts.

Contribute to service development in response to rising demand and COVID-19 backlogs.

Support recruitment, training, and supervision of dermatology clinicians.

Work with senior leadership to drive innovation, quality improvement, and operational success.

This role combines clinical service delivery with opportunities to influence service growth and improvement.

Person Specification

Essential

GMC registration (with license to practise).

At least 3 years’ experience in Dermatology.

Minimum 1 year NHS experience (if not applying for sponsorship).

Competence in dermatological diagnosis, treatment, and minor surgical procedures.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.

Commitment to high-quality, evidence-based care.

Current medical indemnity and DBS certification.

Desirable

Proficiency with clinical software and digital health systems.

Experience in service development or quality improvement projects.

Additional Information

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS): This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974; a DBS check will be required.

Certificate of Sponsorship: Skilled Worker visa sponsorship is available. Applicants may need to provide a criminal record certificate from any country lived in for 12 months or more in the past 10 years.

UK Registration: Applicants must hold current GMC registration.
