About the Role

Eastbrook Ward is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and clinically skilled Deputy Ward Sister / Charge Nurse to join our dedicated and friendly team. This role is ideal for a nurse passionate about providing exceptional care for elderly patients, particularly those with frailty-related conditions and dementia.

You will work closely with the Ward Sister to support and lead the nursing team, ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality patient care. This includes providing clinical leadership, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to ward development and governance.

Eastbrook Ward cares for patients with a range of conditions, including dementia, Parkinson’s disease, heart disease, chronic lung disease, and diabetes. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting both patients and their families through compassionate, patient-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

Support the Ward Sister in managing the daily operations of the ward and leading the nursing team.

Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to elderly patients and those with complex medical needs.

Act as a role model and mentor, supporting the learning and development of junior nurses.

Lead on patient safety initiatives, daily safety huddles, and board rounds.

Participate in clinical audits and contribute to quality improvement projects.

Manage complex discharge planning in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.

Promote effective communication among patients, families, and healthcare professionals.

Ensure infection control, clinical governance, and professional standards are maintained at all times.

Deputise for the Ward Sister during absences, maintaining continuity of leadership and care.

About You

Registered Nurse (NMC registered) — applicants must hold a valid UK NMC registration.

Strong clinical background with experience in elderly care, frailty, and dementia management.

Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.

Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.

Experience in complex discharge planning and multidisciplinary collaboration.
