Key Responsibilities
In this hands-on role, you’ll play a vital part in delivering exceptional care. Here’s what you’ll focus on:
- Assessing patient needs, creating personalized care plans, and putting them into action, while analyzing data to track progress toward safe discharges.
- Collaborating with patients, families, senior nurses, and the wider team to pinpoint challenges and set achievable care goals.
- Prioritizing daily care tasks and adjusting plans based on evaluations and input from the multidisciplinary group.
- Supporting staff growth by organizing time for skill-building sessions in orthopaedic nursing.
- Working alongside the ward manager to coordinate with specialist doctors and consultants for optimal resource use.
- Safely administering medications and treatments in line with NMC standards and our trust’s medicine handling policies.
- Demonstrating expertise in managing critically ill patients and partnering with the care team to meet their complex needs.
- Keeping detailed records to ensure smooth transitions when patients move to other units.
- Completing discharge paperwork promptly and sharing necessary details with relevant organizations.
- Coordinating with nursing and admin colleagues to keep ward operations running efficiently.
- Partnering with the hospital discharge team to minimize patient stay lengths without compromising quality.
- Serving as a strong advocate for patients and their families throughout their journey.
- Regularly reviewing ward practices to confirm they align with our commitment to top-tier care standards.
