Job Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated Psychiatrist to join the newly formed Hampshire & Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership and strategic oversight to the Community Adult Learning Disability Service based on the Isle of Wight.
You will work within a well-established, multidisciplinary team that includes professionals from psychology, nursing, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, and an upcoming art therapy service. The team is collaborative, supportive, and closely connected with service users, carers, and partner organisations across the wider healthcare system.
The service is also expanding, with planned investment in developing an Intensive Support Team to enhance patient care and crisis response.
Incentive: A £30,000 Golden Hello is available (subject to terms and conditions).
Key Responsibilities
As a Consultant, you will:
- Provide senior clinical leadership within the multidisciplinary team.
Ensure clarity of roles, responsibilities, and accountability across the team.
Promote a culture of patient safety, transparency, and continuous improvement.
Communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Support collaborative decision-making and inclusive team discussions.
Oversee the coordination and management of patient care pathways.
Ensure patients and carers are informed and supported throughout their care.
Develop and maintain systems for identifying and managing clinical risks.

Essential Requirements
Applicants must have:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council
MRCPsych qualification (or equivalent)
Eligibility for Specialist Register (or within 6 months of CCT)
CCT in Learning Disability Psychiatry
Approval under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983
