About the Role

East Cheshire NHS Trust is seeking two experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapists to join the Mackles field Community Therapy Team. This role offers the opportunity to work across rehabilitation bed-based settings and in patients’ own homes, providing comprehensive assessment and treatment for adults with diverse physical and cognitive needs.

As a valued member of an integrated multidisciplinary team—including GPs, Advanced Clinical Practitioners, district nurses, physiotherapists, therapy assistants, and social workers—you will play a vital role in supporting patients’ rehabilitation and independence within the community.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, evidence-based occupational therapy assessments and interventions.

Manage a varied caseload of adult patients in community and bed-based rehabilitation settings.

Use advanced clinical reasoning to formulate treatment plans, set goals, and evaluate outcomes.

Work independently while contributing to team-based care and decision-making.

Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and professionals across health and social care sectors.

Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.

Support the supervision and development of junior staff, students, and MDT colleagues.

Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Registration

HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist

Recognized degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy

Evidence of CPD and/or postgraduate training relevant to the role

Clinical educator training or willingness to complete it

Essential Experience & Skills

Relevant post-registration experience in physical and/or mental health settings

Strong assessment and rehabilitation planning skills

Experience managing complex cases, including dementia and discharge planning

Proven ability to work autonomously and within a team

Effective communication, IT, and documentation skills

Experience supporting students or contributing to learning within a team

Understanding of NHS policies, legislation, and priorities

Desirable

Experience working in a community or intermediate care setting

Knowledge of East Cheshire NHS Trust and its values

Background in crisis response or rapid intervention services

Additional Information

Internal second mends may be considered.

Enhanced DBS with Barred List check is required (cost payable by the successful candidate).

Overseas applicants who have lived or worked abroad for 6+ months in the past 5 years must provide police clearance from relevant countries.
