Job Description
About the Role
Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Community Dental Nurse (Band 4) to join our Community Dental Services team, based at St Leonards Hospital. This is a varied and rewarding role supporting some of the most vulnerable patients across Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Newham.
You will be part of a dynamic, mobile service delivering dental care in both clinical and community settings. These include specialist clinics and outreach services such as paediatric dentistry, special care dentistry, conscious sedation, domiciliary visits, bariatric care, and mobile dental services for homeless populations and secure units.
This role is ideal for a Dental Nurse who thrives in a fast-paced environment, demonstrates strong leadership skills, and is passionate about improving oral health outcomes for diverse communities.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a senior member of the dental nursing team, you will:
- Provide high-quality chairside dental nursing support for patients with complex needs
- Support clinics and outreach services across multiple INEL sites, including domiciliary and mobile dental units
- Assist with reception duties and patient-facing customer service when required
- Prepare, organise, and maintain dental instruments, kits, and materials for clinics and community visits
- Support compliance with Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards, infection prevention, and health & safety requirements
- Promote consistent and standardised dental nursing practices across all service locations
- Take delegated responsibility for day-to-day clinic organisation and service improvement initiatives
- Work independently, showing initiative, resilience, and professionalism under pressure
Where You’ll Work
Although you will have a main base clinic, this is a peripatetic role, meaning you’ll support dental services across Inner North East London. A driving requirement may apply depending on service needs; reasonable adjustments are supported for applicants with disabilities.
