Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) is inviting applications from enthusiastic practising General Practitioners who are passionate about medical education and interested in developing a portfolio career with a strong teaching focus.

This role offers the opportunity to shape the next generation of doctors by contributing to innovative, patient-centred undergraduate teaching in general practice and integrated clinical care.

 Working Pattern & Salary

  • Contract: Permanent
  • Hours: 0.4 FTE (flexible working requests considered)
  • Preferred Teaching Days: Monday and Thursday
  • Salary: GP01 scale £89,537 – £118,665 (pro rata)
  • Location: Brighton, UK

 About the Role

As a Clinical Senior GP Teaching Fellow, you will play a central role in delivering and developing undergraduate medical education with a strong generalist focus.

Your Key Contributions

Design and deliver high-quality teaching in:

Support the recruitment, development, and quality assurance of:

  • GP teaching placements
  • A diverse network of GP educators
  • Contribute to innovative learning and assessment resources that reflect current clinical practice and integrated care models.
  • Work collaboratively across academic, clinical, and administrative teams to ensure teaching remains relevant, inclusive, and up to date.
  • Participate in occasional travel to GP practices within the region.

 About You

This role is well suited to a currently practising GP who wishes to expand their educational portfolio within a supportive academic environment.

You will bring:

  • Strong organisational and workload-management skills
  • Clear and confident communication with colleagues, line managers, and external stakeholders
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support fellow educators
  • An interest in shaping undergraduate medical education and general practice teaching
  • While the initial appointment is at 0.4 FTE, there may be scope for flexibility in the future.
