Exciting Opportunity for a Band 5 Registered Nurse – Clinical Research Team at Yeovil Hospital

We are thrilled to offer an excellent opportunity for a Band 5 Registered Nurse to join our growing and successful Clinical Research Delivery Team at Yeovil Hospital.

We are expanding our research portfolio with a variety of commercial and academic clinical trials, and we need a passionate individual to work alongside a dedicated team of research-active clinicians. Our portfolio includes both observational and interventional studies.

We’re looking for someone who is highly organised, with strong interpersonal and IT skills, able to meet deadlines, and most importantly, has a “can-do” attitude.

As part of the role, you will be expected to demonstrate a willingness to train and develop the necessary skills to become a proficient research nurse. In return, we offer continuous professional development opportunities to enhance your research knowledge and experience, as well as the chance to be part of a dynamic, high-quality clinical research team.

At Somerset Foundation Trust, we fully support the rewarding career pathway of a research nurse. If you think this could be the role for you, we encourage informal visits and discussions, and we look forward to meeting you.

Main Duties, Responsibilities & Skills Required

Provide information and support to patients and carers about research protocols, procedures, treatments, and follow-up, ensuring informed consent is obtained.

Maintain clear and effective communication between the team and research participants.

Develop and foster close working relationships with clinical teams, supporting both new and experienced researchers to achieve research goals.

Recognise the importance of open, skilled communication in building healthcare professional-patient relationships and collaborating with multidisciplinary team members.

Take responsibility for the assessment, planning, organisation, and ongoing care of research participants while ensuring protocol and GCP (Good Clinical Practice) compliance.

Flexibility to work outside normal hours when needed.

Ensure meticulous attention to detail in recording study data, both on paper and electronic systems.

Select and recruit participants based on study-specific inclusion and exclusion criteria, attending clinics and clinical areas, and actively contributing to the multidisciplinary team.
