Job Description
About the Department
The Department of Neuromuscular Diseases is internationally recognised for excellence in clinical care and translational research across spinal cord and neuromuscular conditions. The department brings together clinicians, geneticists, imaging specialists, and scientists who work collaboratively to improve understanding of disease mechanisms and develop therapies that directly benefit patients.
Research within the department contributes to advances in conditions including Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT), motor neurone disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and a broad range of inherited neuromuscular disorders.
About the Role
We are seeking a Clinical Research Fellow to join Professor Mary Reilly’s research group, following the award of a major four-year grant from Muscular Dystrophy UK for the TRANSFORM-CMT (Trial Readiness in Charcot-Marie-Tooth Disease) programme.
This role focuses on advancing a quantitative MRI fat-fraction outcome measure, currently the most sensitive biomarker across several forms of CMT. - Clinically assess and recruit patients for imaging studies at UCL
- Work closely with physicists, clinicians, geneticists, bioinformaticians, trial coordinators, and data managers
- Receive structured training in inherited neuropathies, clinical outcome measures, and MRI data analysis
- Use AI-based software to analyse MRI fat-fraction data
- Coordinate and manage multi-centre data collection across six UK research sites
- Support high-quality, ethically approved clinical research
An Honorary Clinical Contract will be sought with UCLH NHS Trust, and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check will be required in line with UK legislation.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will:
