This is an opportunity for a motivated and experienced mental health professional to step into a leadership-focused clinical role within an adult acute inpatient ward.
As a Clinical Lead, you will play a key role in shaping patient care, supporting colleagues, and ensuring the ward consistently delivers safe, effective, and person-centred treatment. The service is evolving with a strong focus on innovation, recovery, and holistic care, making this an ideal role for someone who wants to grow their leadership skills while staying clinically active.

What You’ll Be Doing
Clinical Leadership & Patient Care
- Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care to patients with acute mental health needs
Take responsibility for coordinating shifts and acting as nurse in charge when required
Support patients through direct care, including medication administration and therapeutic engagement
Monitor physical and mental health, ensuring safe and responsive interventions
Apply key legislation in practice
Team Support & Development
- Mentor and guide junior staff and students in clinical practice
Provide or support clinical supervision within the team
Work closely with the Ward Manager to maintain high standards of care
Contribute to a positive, learning-focused team environment
Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work alongside nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, and doctors
Support care planning and decision-making across the wider team
Engage with families and carers to ensure inclusive care
Service Improvement & Governance
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives
Support safe practice through risk assessment and safeguarding:
Contribute to clinical audits and governance processes
Maintain accurate and compliant documentation
About the Service
Foss Park Hospital is a purpose-built mental health facility offering a range of inpatient and community services. The ward environment is designed to support recovery, with dedicated therapeutic and activity spaces to help patients regain independence and transition safely back into the community.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (RMNH or RNLD)
Evidence of ongoing professional development
Practice Supervisor/Assessor status (or willingness to achieve within 6 months)
Training in clinical supervision (or willingness to complete)
Experience
- Minimum 18 months post-qualification experience (including preceptorship completion)
Experience working with individuals with mental health needs
Involvement in supervision, mentoring, or student support
Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
Participation in quality improvement activities
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of evidence-based mental health care
Knowledge of safeguarding responsibilities and legal frameworks
Skills in clinical risk assessment and management
Awareness of governance, audit, and service improvement processes
Understanding of psychological care approaches
Competence in medicines management, including injections
Additional Requirements
- This role requires a DBS check
Overseas applicants must provide a criminal record certificate
Applicants must hold valid UK professional registration
