Pharmacy Technical Services Manager

Location: Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust
Department: Pharmacy Technical Services Unit (PTSU)
Team Size: Approx. 22 staff members

Role Overview:
This role supports the Head of Pharmacy Technical Services in ensuring the delivery of high-quality aseptically prepared medicines in compliance with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice). The successful candidate will lead a dedicated team of approximately 22 staff members, working to deliver critical services such as chemotherapy, TPN, CIVAS, pain intrathecal doses, radiopharmaceutical kits, and over-labeling services. With new isolators set to be installed, the team is also preparing to participate in providing genomic medicine in the near future.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Pharmacy Technical Services for Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust.
  • Oversee the Pharmacy Technical Services provided to PTSU by Trust departments and external organisations as outlined in Service Level/Technical Agreements.
  • Manage resources within the Technical Services team, including staff, equipment, and operational workflows.
  • Collaborate in the preparation for QAAPS internal audits, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and best practice standards.
  • Manage rotas for allocated pharmacy staff to ensure adequate coverage across all PTSU areas, working closely with other section leads.
  • Participate as a key member of the PTSU Senior Management Team.
