The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) is one of the UK’s largest government departments, responsible for delivering over £200 billion annually in benefit payments to millions of citizens. The Finance Group plays a crucial role in safeguarding public funds, ensuring accurate delivery, and driving improvements through finance assurance.

The Role:

Finance Change & Mobilization Officer (SEO)

We’re seeking a highly organized and collaborative individual to join the Change & Mobilization Team within the Payments, Systems & Financial Control Directorate. This team leads DWP’s engagement with the Synergy Programe, a major cross-departmental initiative aimed at transforming shared corporate services across several government departments and arm’s-length bodies (ALBs), impacting over 250,000 Civil Servants.

The programme will deliver smarter, more user-centric systems and processes across finance, HR, and procurement, improving data, service continuity, and value for money.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate the design and implementation of Synergy’s future Finance Shared Services and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

Act as a key point of contact between DWP and other Synergy partners (e.g. MoJ, Defra, Home Office).

Support the roll-out of business change activities and ensure DWP is ready for new ways of working.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across departments and ALBs.

Represent Finance interests, influence decisions, and ensure alignment with programme goals.

Identify risks and opportunities, and adapt plans in response to changing priorities and timelines.

Champion the Synergy Programme’s goals, including simplification, efficiency, and improved user experience.

What We’re Looking For

A passion for transformation and improving public services through finance and change.

Excellent organisational skills with experience of coordinating large-scale or cross-functional programmes.

Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships.

Flexibility to adapt and work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Previous experience in finance, project/change management, or a related field is desirable.

Working Arrangements

This role is eligible for hybrid working, combining office-based and remote work. Your contractual base will be your chosen DWP office. Flexible working is considered in line with business needs and personal circumstances.
