About the Role
The Faculty of Engineering manages numerous centres, laboratories, and institutes that require flexible administrative support. To meet this need, the Faculty Office is establishing a matrix-managed, shared services team to provide administrative assistance across these units.
We are seeking a Centres Manager to oversee all Centres/Institutes and their associated projects, ensuring efficient administration and contributing to the success of funded posts within the flexible team.
This is a highly organised, proactive role requiring excellent time management, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. The role involves coordinating staff and resources across Centres/Institutes according to need and funding, with functional reporting lines extending beyond individual Centres.
The post holder will also support UCL’s equality and diversity policies and participate in Fire Evacuation Marshal training while maintaining awareness of Fire and Health & Safety regulations.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
Hold a first degree or equivalent experience.
Have a proven track record in administration and management in a higher education or similarly complex environment.
Demonstrate experience delivering high-quality administration and support services, including setting service standards and monitoring performance.
Possess financial management experience, including budgeting, reporting, and analysis.
Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior academic and administrative staff, as well as external stakeholders.
