About the Role

Macklin Care Homes is currently seeking a dedicated Care Assistant Supervisor to join our team at Milesian Manor. In this role, you’ll support the Home Manager by leading a team of Senior Care Assistants and Care Assistants, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care in line with regulatory standards and internal policies. As a key member of the team, you will act as a role model, promoting best practices in care, safeguarding, and compliance, while supporting the wellbeing and development of residents and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise and support Senior Care Assistants and Care Assistants on shift

Delegate tasks effectively and ensure smooth coordination during routine care and emergencies

Conduct staff supervisions, appraisals, return-to-work interviews, and performance reviews

Mentor and support new staff during induction, ensuring they understand resident care plans and home policies

Lead by example in delivering compassionate, dignified, person-centered care

Assist residents with daily living activities such as hygiene, mobility, nutrition, hydration, continence care, and social engagement

Administer or prompt medication (where trained and authorized)

Monitor residents’ health and wellbeing, reporting changes promptly to the Nurse or Manager

Ensure care delivery meets RQIA, NISCC, and DHSSPS NI Minimum Standards

Maintain accurate and timely documentation (e.g., care notes, fluid charts, incident reports)

Support internal audits, risk assessments, and regulatory inspections

Promote infection control, health and safety, and safeguarding best practices

Maintain clear communication and ensure thorough handovers between shifts

Liaise professionally with families, healthcare professionals, and external stakeholders

Attend mandatory training and refresher sessions as required

Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and reflective practice

About You

Essential Criteria:
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a care setting, ideally within a residential or nursing home

Registered with NISCC as a Senior Care Assistant or Supervisor

Medication training and experience administering or supporting medication administration

Strong understanding of RQIA regulations, Minimum Care Standards, and safeguarding protocols

Confident in supervising staff, delegating tasks, and managing care delivery

Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays

Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills

Desirable Criteria:

Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards it with support provided)

Previous supervisory or team leadership experience

Knowledge of dementia care, palliative care, or mental health support
