Job Description
About This Opportunity
Are you someone who enjoys working with people, values compassion, and wants to build practical healthcare skills? Would you like to be part of a clinical team that plays a key role in diagnosing heart conditions within the community?
Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Cardiographer to join our busy cardiac diagnostics service. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to work directly with patients in both hospital and community settings, contributing to high-quality cardiac care across Cornwall.
Full training will be provided, making this role suitable for individuals with strong interpersonal skills and a careful, methodical approach—even if you are new to cardiography.
The Role
As a Cardiographer, you will support the diagnosis and monitoring of heart conditions by carrying out electrocardiogram (ECG) investigations and related diagnostic procedures. You will work with inpatients and outpatients and collaborate closely with cardiac physiologists and administrative teams.
The role is highly patient-focused and requires professionalism, sensitivity, and attention to detail. While teamwork is essential, you must also be confident working independently and unsupervised when required.
You will be expected to travel between sites, including Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro, community hospitals, and local diagnostic centres. Independent travel using your own vehicle is required.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Perform high-quality 12-lead ECG recordings with basic interpretation skills
- Adapt ECG recording techniques to meet specific clinical requirements, as directed
- Fit and remove 24-hour ambulatory ECG monitors and event recorders
- Record manual blood pressure readings and fit ambulatory BP monitors
- Download diagnostic data accurately to patient databases
- Support physiologists with patient-focused and administrative tasks
- Maintain detailed records of investigations and manage disposable stock levels
- Assist with appointment booking and clinic organisation when required
- Working Pattern
- Full-time or part-time opportunities available
- Core working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
- Flexible working options may be discussed at interview
